Photo Mosaics, Stephen Michael Starensier

Medium: Photo Mosaics, Collage, Assembles, Digital

Artist Statement

Photo Mosaics are a unique art form. Instead of applying pigment to paper, Photo Mosaics use individual digital images instead of the dabs of a paint brush. My Photo Mosaics are viewed closely as a dispersed but correlated flow of 400 to 1200 small exquisite images until the viewer steps back some distance and discovers the individual images converge into a larger single illusion. Inspired by humanist symbology, everyday metaphors and, of course, Beauty wherever it can be found, all assemblages offer a virulent edge and often a bit of eroticism. I hold an undergraduate degree in renaissance art history inclusive of a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts from the University of Pennsylvania and three Master degrees from Columbia University. I am a classically trained Architect and member of the American Institute of Architects and a former Renaissance musician. This is my music in digital form.
