Seventeen members attended.

We talked about the recent Dark Skies exhibit at Waterfall Arts–much media coverage and many visitors, and very good sales. A lot of hard work went into this exhibit by Emily Sabino, Liv Kristin Robinson, and Arlene Leighton.

We talked about upcoming exhibition opportunities at Bangor Public Library (TBD 2026), Camden Public Library (May 2026), the Craignair Inn (Fall 2025), and the Mainely Gallery this summer (2025) in Belfast.

Details to come, calls when ready will be on the main UMVA website.

We had a lot of discussion around UMVA rules for funding exhibitions as well as basic rules around juried and curated shows. The clearest consensus is that whatever the guidelines and expectations are, they should be clearly stated in the call.

We talked about the work involved with facilitating exhibitions for UMVA members—it’s a lot of work and needs a team. We talked about possible mentoring for members on how to do this, where a member who has never worked on that side of a show can assist a member-team who has experience.

Several members brought artwork to share.

Our next meet-up will be May 10, at the Belfast Free Library, 11-1.
