Meeting Minutes
UMVA Midcoast Chapter
November 9, 2024
Camden Public Library

Sixteen members came to the CPL including Shanna Compton, who set up a very thorough demonstration of the new UMVA website and answered many questions.

Members found the new site to be well-organized and fairly easy to navigate—a  major improvement from the former site.

Shanna went through setting up our member pages where artists can upload up to seven pieces of art, links to their websites and social media, as well as an artist statement. There is also a tech page with FAQ. You need to log in to get to the members area and explore calls for art, submit and edit calendar listings, and submit and edit your artist page.

Also noted you can now pay for membership on the site. The website developer is still taking feedback if you have issues and Shanna was open to members ideas and suggestions.

Liv Kristin Robinson updated members on the upcoming Dark Skies show that will be held at Waterfall Arts beginning January 18th through the end of February 2025. Thirty-four artists, some juried and some invited, will participate. Gail Wartell shared that Mainely Gallery in Belfast is open to more UMVA exhibitions.

We decided to change our chapter name to Midcoast/Downeast to better reflect the active members our chapter draws. Then we shared some work and enjoyed refreshments.

The next meeting will be on January 11, 2025, at Belfast Free Library.
