I paint the world around me: whatever calls out to be seen, observed, attended to, admired. Now that I live amongst the fields and forest, that is generally my subject matter, but I have also enjoyed painting buildings, people, and cityscapes. I believe the work of the artist is essentially animist in nature: the spirit within things or other beings invokes our own heart’s spirit and the artwork is the dialogue between the two.
