As a Psychotherapist, Feng Shui consultant, Artist and student of Carl Jung I have been influenced to live outside the box. These modalities have been present in my life since I was a young person. I did not see nor understand how much they were there, until my formal education clarified them. Now, to access my artist energy, I have to allow my unconscious to emerge and tap into my imagination. As I paint, I release form and use my medium to express the ‘feeling’ that is surfacing at the moment. Abstract and symbolic forms, movement and marks show up. I’m always surprised by what is on the canvas when I put my brush down. The joy of nonjudgmental expression is that, as another inspiration arrives the whole composition can shift. This freedom allows me to let my critical voice ‘relax and be the observer.’ I see how the realms of the unseen world can influence what ultimately emerges in my work. My hope is that each observer of my art can find a meaning that suits them and lifts them. My latest work “Thinning of the Veil” moves from the dark and disturbed time since March 2020 into an upward movement of hope and release. In “Love Descending” the colors and movement showed up as a call to action. Two shadow boxed pieces represent the influence of my Feng Shui training. One is “Wind” the other “Water”.
