Martha Ferguson I am a visual artist based in Portland, Maine and a member of the Running With Scissors Art Community. My work is inspired by the landscapes of coastal Maine, its magical light, the enchanting islands of Penobscot Bay and the pull of the sea. I’m interested in exploring environmental issues as I create artwork that expresses the fragility and resilience of the natural world. Lately, I’ve been immersed in a series of “Spirit House” paintings that consider moments of revelation and transformation. Stop by my studio, I’d love to share my new work with you! I’ve shown my work in solo and group exhibitions in Maine, New York, and Philadelphia. My work is included in private collections as well as the collection of Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I earned my MFA in Painting from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and my BFA from Hartford Art School. I’ve also spent time studying in Corsica and was honored to receive a Japanese Fulbright Fellowship focused on international arts education and collaboration.
