Original art education taught me about creating realistic oil paintings of landscapes, still life, and figures. Now my art is abstract and inspired by interactions with nature, dream life, and psychotherapy with clients. It is a visual interpretation of the present moment and state of mind. The process is intuitive based on each shape or line informing the next with no known discernable outcome. Creating paintings is reminiscent of doing psychotherapy in which layers are added and subtracted. A unified composition gradually emerges from what came before and what becomes integrated into the most recent mark making.
