Light, texture, colors, and memories swirl through my mind as I work to find an image in the paint. Sometimes I approach a canvas with an intention and then my hands and subconscious decide otherwise. The land, sea, and sky that surround my home constantly impact my life; the physical erosion along the shore by my home daily displays climate changes as the sea rises and the endless variations of light, clouds, fog, and wave patterns effect my moods. The interaction of these elements with my awareness of the social and political climates worldwide challenge me to create landscapes in which the lines, compositions, color, and texture speak to the gravity of situations while simultaneously presenting the potential for peace and tolerance.
