Jean Kigel – artist’s statement
When I experience emotional reaction to a thing, be it man-made or natural, I am ready to create. We have a few short moments of influence on this earth; for many reasons, it seems critical, that my art serve to preserve our environment, if by no more than creating, portraits of the earth’s wonders. Using watercolor, ink, and oil, I feel the vibes of Homer, Motherwell, and Sato. Discovering the possibilities of line, color, splashes and drips is as important to me as the result. With a spontaneous, minimalistic approach, I aim to create paintings that pulse with energy.
