Painter and art educator Sandra Tardo Long presents a new collection of work exploring the vivid textures, shifting light, and emotional resonance of the Maine landscape.

 Sandy has spent decades translating her deep connection to place into expressive paintings. Her work reflects a fascination with “patterns, textures, and colors found in nature,” particularly the rugged surfaces of Maine rocks, coastlines, and quiet inland spaces.

Her paintings are both observational and deeply personal—an attempt to capture not just what is seen, but what is felt. Her subjects range from landscapes and animals to intimate studies of everyday moments, each rendered with a bold sense of color and movement.

She brings a distinguished background in art education to her practice. She has served as an arts specialist with the Maine Department of Education and taught art education at the University of Southern Maine.

Her work has been exhibited widely across Maine and nationally, including juried exhibitions, university galleries, and cooperative gallery spaces.  She is a founding member of Gallery 32 in Bridgton and an active member of the Painted Ladies of Maine (paintedladiesofmaine.com).

This exhibition offers viewers an opportunity to experience her signature approach—where observation meets emotion, and familiar Maine scenes reveal new layers of beauty and meaning.
