UMVA Call for Art: Connections, December 2026 (Brunswick)
Connections
Theoretical, visual and tactile, psychological, and interpersonal actions connect us. Our planet has infinite connections in the oceans and air, on land in the animal and plant kingdoms, and our biosphere. The auto-functions in our bodies made through interactions and connections are miraculous. The artist’s mind and body connect. They intuit the world and these varied associations.
Throughout art history, connections to community, plants and animals, God and the sublime have been depicted on cave walls, stones, vessels, and sculpted into forms. Figurative and landscape images were woven into tapestries—literal links of fibers. Through art—where materials, color, texture, composition, and structure combine—artists make meaning.
This call for art in all media is for a juried show, open to all UMVA members. There is a chance your art may not be selected. Our juror will be Amor DÃaz-Campos M.S., Curatorial & Development Coordinator, Boston Public Art Triennial.
Due to space limitations, artists may submit only 1 artwork that conveys the theme.
This show will be exhibited in the Morrell Meeting Room at the Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick, ME, December 1–30, 2026.
Call for Art: August 8–September 15
